What a fantastic weekend, and an amazing day we enjoyed today with Elder Richard G. Scott. What a great blessing we all enjoyed to feel of his giant and gentle spirit and to see and feel the power of his witness. For four hours we feasted on the words of not only Elder Scott, but also our Area President, David Evans and Area Presidency counselor, Elder Choi. It was a day we will all always remember.

Velvet and Steel

Yesterday the mission compound was a flurry of busyness as we are all preparing for the arrival of Elder Richard G. Scott for our Stake and Mission conference over the next several days. The AP's planted flowers in all the planters and flower pots, commenting that they never imagined they would ever be required to do such a thing on their missions! Elder McWhorter related his mother's advice about the importance of having a "soft" side and how proud she would be to see him enjoying working with the flowers. He was just convincing his Marine companion, Elder Capps, when President Perriton walked around the corner and made a comment about how cute they looked!

This zone conference was held in Jeonju in one of Korea's newer chapels, the largest and most beautiful in the whole country! Everything about it is unique and lovely.

Main themes for training in this month's zone conferences are Faith, the Atonement, and efffective planning/goal setting. I thought it was odd that none of the missionaries in these Gwangju zones is celebrataing a birthday in the next 6 weeks.

Welcome

A short history about us:
President Alan G. Perriton was born in Christchurch, New Zealand. He served a mission in Korea from 1965-68. He and 3 other elders opened the Daejeon area to missionary work in 1967, so this area has a special place in his heart. After his mission he attended BYU where we met and were married in the Salt Lake Temple in 1972. After graduation, he began a 34-year career with General Motors Corp. that kept the family mobile with assignments in New York, Korea, California, Tennessee, Michigan, back to Korea, and Japan before retiring in 2006.

I, Mary Perriton was born and raised in San Diego, California. I completed my college education and graduated from BYU in 2006 after taking a 34-year break to raise a family of five children! Our oldest 3 children are married, the youngest 2 are single and still attending school. We are the proud grandparents of 7!
